Where i used to live in the Philippines!

July 26, 2006

My friend Henry from the Philippines (Side view)
just sent me pictures of the Island where I used to live (Boracay)

the rice terraces i got lost in (Bontoc),

and pictures of his new home in the village of Maligkong.

Henry is one of those rare people who listened to the elders of his village and then shared their stories with travellers like myself. He also has a wonderful knowledge of the caves in Sagada.  He took my sister and I on a fabulous walkabout in the vast underground network eeeeeons ago! Such a patient guy!

How is it possible that this was so long ago, and how on earth did i get here doing what i am doing now?

I almost built a house there to, oh well the decisions one makes. I also have totally great stories of the gekko brothers, papa aldo, israeli-palestinian actors, defectors, the advent of techno, Berlin industrial music, electric sunrises and and and…
