Dalal Chaqui - Show October 11
Dalal
will be exhibiting her work at the University of Mexico (UNAM) at 55 Laurier in Gatineau. Doors open at 6:30 on October 11.
Dalal paints the Chinatown neighbourhood, her travels on the bus, the coop where i live, self portraits, children and occasionally Paloma! She depicts the real and everyday life of people often in overlooked places of the city making what seems mundane romantic. We particularly luv visiting her when she paints and drinking some of her Chilean Eau de Vie!

In Her words:
I realise that two personalities guide my themes and their styles:
One emerges sombre and dramatic almost as if I am mixing depression with paint. When I am able to release these dark moods on canvas my storm clouds lift.
The other side is light with the colours of snow, sky, trees and the active life of the city. When I am able to imprint light on my canvas joy comes to my spirit.
Painting is my life treasure, it keeps me healthy in body and mind.
